1970 911E Targa

I've owned this Porsche for the past 36 years and purchased it from the original owner at which time it had been driven 13,000 miles and was silver.  It has been in California all its life and has no rust issues.  I am a non-smoker and have been its only driver since 1972.  It was driven a lot during the 70's and 80's and then less and less (an average of 1,100 miles a year for the past 22 years}. I'm 67 and find I'm driving my other vehicles rather than the Porsche.  It has been serviced and driven in every year and has not been long-term stored.  It currently has about 142,000 miles.  All maintenance was done by the best professionals in the area I was living and I have all major documentation starting with the original purchase invoice in 1969.

I know the 2003 Porsche mirrors (I like the looks and function) are a turn-off to many but there is more original about the car than not: all matching #'s; original engine with rebuild in 12/82; original MFI (working as well as it did in 1972); original 5 speed transmission with 1980 rebuild; original targa top with rebuild in 10/89; original seats in excellent condition; original Fuchs wheels (5); original 911S front brakes, original tinted glass, original rear window defroster, original carpet; original driver's manual, warranty book, targa top cover and bag, tool kit; original chrome horn grills, original Porsche rear deck letters, and original gold 911E rear deck emblem.

In 1990 the body was professionally disassembled, taken down to bare metal, painted completely, and reassembled with all new rubber and that is the paint in today's photos (all photos are 2008).  The engine compartment grill was painted black and the horn grills, 911E emblem, and Porsche letters on the rear deck were replace with black ones (originals go with car).  The paint and body are in excellent condition. A custom car cover and bra go with car. The car was inspected in 2/08 and battery corrosion was discovered in the right side of the front suspension pan.  The pan was professionally replaced. Photos include before (with the gas tank out) and after of the suspension pan.

Here is some of the maintenance (I have included only the latest of recurring items):

The car runs exceptionally strong and handles well.  The transmission and clutch are smooth with no issues.  After a hard run in the heat the engine  will leak about a silver dollar size spot of oil and stop.  Brakes function well and have no issues.  All gauges function well except for the clock which quit in 2007. The door pockets were removed and flat upholstered where they were.  The speakers were in the door pockets and haven't been reinstalled. The JBL speakers will go with the car.  I have the rear seat belts, but they are not installed.  The driver's side original carpet has a little wear and new carpets are over the front carpets on both sides.  There is no engine compartment sound pad.

The car was in one accident in 1981 involving the right front.  I went to a prominent body shop specializing in Porsches and the damage was repaired to my satisfaction.  To give you an idea of the extent of the repair, the replaced parts were: front bumper, right front fender, and misc small parts and trim.

I believe the car to be one of the best Porsche 911 examples of its vintage as the photos that follow will hopefully demonstrate. The price is $40,000.

The car is at my home in Placerville, CA and I (Ron Williams) can be reached at 530-306-1182 (cell) or ron@metatelabs.com.
